Our Health and Safety Culture
We believe that all accidents and incidents are preventable, and that health and safety is as much about mindset as it is about ensuring strong safety and compliance systems.
Our Health and Safety Strategy is centred around developing a Zero Harm Mindset. A Zero Harm Mindset is a safety culture where we are all committed to ourselves, and everyone around us having a healthy and safe day. Our strategy is achieved through four strategic enablers that inform our annual HSE improvement activities and action plans to drive continual HSE performance improvement:
Training and competence
The right training and competency coupled with the right tools and equipment is essential to deliver a high-quality, safe and efficient service to our clients. Mandatory competence, training and awareness requirements for each position are determined using a training needs analysis.
For example, our Global Zero Harm Mindset Behavioural Safety Program has been designed to stimulate proactive safety involvement from every employee. Our goal is that our employees become the driving force behind safety improvements, looking out for their co-workers and clients’ safety, and taking proactive action when they see someone or something at risk.
Compliance and learning
Mandatory HSE policies, processes and standards are in place to protect employees, clients, subcontractors, and the environment against the most significant risks. Our risk management framework conforms to ISO 31000 Risk Management principles to appropriately align priorities and action plans to risk and emergency management. Incidents are investigated to identify the root-causes and any lessons learned and corrective or preventive actions from investigations implemented without delay to prevent repeat incidents. Our various audits and safety checks encourage our employees to check and constantly assess the way that they and our third parties are doing things and to ensure that we are meeting our contractual requirements.
Our Global Health and Safety Policy reinforces our belief that all accidents and incidents are preventable and defines our fundamentals and behaviour expectations for everyone and leaders, so that we all understand the important role that we play on our journey to achieve Zero Harm.
