Sodexo Colombia has received the GEEIS-SDGs award for SheWorks program

At Sodexo, it is in our DNA to improve people’s lives and to positively contribute to society every day.

We are proud to share that Sodexo Colombia has received the GEEIS-SDGs award for our SheWorks program.

The GEEIS-SDG Trophy was created by Arborus. It positions gender equality as the driving force behind the accomplishment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

"This important recognition will allow us to continue to promote this project internally and inspire other countries in which we operate."
Mia MendsGlobal Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and CEO, Impact Ventures, Sodexo North America

Our SheWorks program seeks the inclusion of women in positions that are commonly masculinized. Women from low income neighbourhoods are invited to join the program and to complete a 9-month academic training program as well as a 6-month internship in rotating positions.

By creating decent and safe jobs that guarantee fair pay, we can reduce the rate of unemployed women, and positively impact their quality of life and that of their children, families, and communities.

Last October, sixteen women acquired the title of “Technician in residential electrical installations”.  Since then, twenty-five new women have joined the program and are currently in their 4th semester of studies.

"It has been a life-changing experience for me."
"I am very grateful to Sodexo because it allowed me to develop myself professionally. After a lot of effort, I continue to learn a lot and my dream is to become an industrial engineer, I know I am going to achieve it. Thank you, Sodexo, for giving me this opportunity."
