Sodexo strengthens its presence in Mainland China and reinforces its position in the Food services market
Sodexo acquires award-winning corporate restaurant group K-märkt in Sweden to accelerate its sustainable food transformation
Investing further in sustainable food, Sodexo in Sweden acquires the corporate restaurant group K-märkt, known for its high-quality, tasty food and innovative methods for enhancing sustainability and reducing food waste. K-märkt restaurants are currently situated at six locations in Stockholm, with an objective to expand to more cities in Sweden together with Sodexo.
K-märkt’s sustainable food model is based on a strong supply chain network which makes it possible to source food products that otherwise would have been wasted. One result of this is the “Chef’s Choice" concept, where meals are created using the food available each day rather than offering set menus.
This acquisition in Sweden is part of Sodexo's broader ambition to become the leader in sustainable food. Aligned with this ambition, Sodexo is undertaking a gradual yet profound transformation of its food operations worldwide. The farm-to-fork food system is estimated to generate 1/3 of the global greenhouse emissions, making it essential to change the way we produce and consume food*.
About K-märkt
K-märkt restaurants started its business in 2014. The founders’ vision was to combine volume and quality related to lunch meals stating,” We will serve Sweden’s best lunch on a tray – without the tray”. Today, the corporate restaurant group is situated at six locations in Stockholm and in addition to volume and quality, sustainability has become the most important pillar. Through innovative and creative methods, K-märkt has led the way for sustainability development within the restaurant business in Sweden. In 2018, K-märkt was appointed Sweden's most sustainable restaurant and this autumn it is nominated for the Stora Turismpriset (The big Tourism prize).
