Cultivating inclusive agriculture in South Africa
A last-minute Super Bowl touchdown, a photo finish at Royal Ascot, a tense tiebreaker at Roland Garros – all heart-stopping sporting moments that enthrall spectators and keep them on the edge of their seats. Sodexo Live! is right there at the heart of the action, offering unforgettable catering and hospitality experiences at the world’s largest sporting events.
In February, Sodexo Live! brought its expertise to perhaps the most high-profile event in the global sporting calendar, Super Bowl LIX, the American football championship final. This marked our 16th Super Bowl, and with 62,000 spectators gathered at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, we needed to be at the top of our game.
While we expected some surprises on the field, our team is well rehearsed at the venue – we are a long-standing partner at Caesars Superdome, providing high-level services year-round for spectators at stadium events including NFL games featuring the hometown Saints , the NCAA Final Four college basketball tournament, and the Sugar Bowl, the national college football final.
Hosting the Super Bowl required meticulous team tactics and a tight game plan. Spectators arriving for the build-up to this iconic event were welcomed with pre-game festivities at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, National WWII Museum, Smoothie King Center, and Champions Square. For those lucky enough to have a ticket to the game, our team created a night to remember in the public areas and VIP boxes, with more than 250,000 meals in total served throughout the week.
Detailed planning went into the event’s menus, with 40% of the produce sourced from local suppliers and a special partnership announced for the occasion – Marshall Faulk, a New Orleans native and former NFL player, took on the role of Chief Flavor Officer.
Spectators enjoyed a range of dishes including:
"New Orleans is a city celebrated for its food culture and distinctive flavor profile, and it was an honor to showcase that vibrance on a global stage,”
Carmen CalloExecutive Chef of Sodexo Live! in the United States.
“This was a unique opportunity to highlight dishes that define this city that we know and love, while introducing thousands of fans from around the world to the diverse flavors that make New Orleans one of the top food destinations. We wanted fans to eat at the Superdome and know they could only be in New Orleans.”
